Dogs are naturally social beings who thrive on interaction with humans and other animals. They are "pack" animals; they want to be part of our families. Dogs need companionship, care, exercise and attention. Leaving a dog outside for long periods of time, especially if he/she is chained or tethered, can be physically and emotionally detrimental and can lead to serious behavior problems including biting and aggression. Our canine friends provide us with much more than unconditional love and endless entertainment. They lower our blood pressure, provide us with the opportunity for social interaction with other humans, force us into a much needed exercise routine. Dogs are the eyes of the blind, the ears of the hearing-impaired, the arms and legs of those who have lost their limbs. Dogs alert us to danger, find lost loved ones, assist our law enforcement officers and members of our military in foreign lands. In return we owe them safety, shelter, sustenance and love.

Most of us would never leave our dogs alone, outdoors, in the cold of winter and heat of summer, exposed to dangers from extreme weather, humans, other animals and insects. Unfortunately, however, through ignorance or malice, many Granite State dogs are outside, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, year after year after year. And our current law allows it.

This website is a privately funded, grassroots effort to improve the lives of our canine friends by raising public awareness and changing New Hampshire's laws. If you would like to help, please sign our Guestbook. If you would like to make a financial contribution please send a donation to your local shelter to help care for abused, abandoned and neglected animals in your community.
